Sedation dentistry built for special needs patients other practices can't treat. For children and adults with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, dementia, and other conditions that make a standard dental visit too hard.
Many families come to us after years of being passed from office to office. One dentist says the patient is too anxious. Another can only do a quick cleaning, or says the visit is too risky. Children's dentists can't always keep treating a patient who has grown into adulthood.
Meanwhile, the real problems go untreated. Infections, broken teeth, and gum disease don't go away just because the chair is hard to sit in.
You shouldn't have to keep searching. Comprehensive dental care is possible for your loved one, and we're here to provide it.
NOVA Dental Anesthesia was built around one question: what does this patient need to get through treatment comfortably and safely?
With 2 in-house, hospital-trained, anesthesiologists on our team, we can offer levels of sedation that go well beyond what most general and pediatric offices provide. That lets us do real dentistry, not just a quick look or a surface cleaning.
We can provide:
Thorough exams and X-rays
Deep cleanings
Fillings, crowns, and root canals
Extractions
Treatment of infection and pain
Many of our patients arrive after years without proper care. We meet them where they are, and we treat everything that needs treating.
Sedation may be a good fit if your loved one:
Has difficulty sitting still, staying calm, or opening wide for long periods
Is highly sensitive to sounds, lights, touch, or unfamiliar places
Has had a past dental visit end early, or couldn't be completed at all
Has involuntary movements or muscle tension that make treatment unsafe in the chair
Needs several procedures that would otherwise take many separate visits
Has dental pain or infection but can't tell you where it hurts
Has been told by another office that they "can't" be treated
Conditions our patients commonly have:
Autism spectrum disorder · Down syndrome · Cerebral palsy · Angelman syndrome · ADHD · Epilepsy and seizure disorders · Muscular dystrophy · Parkinson's disease · Alzheimer's and dementia · Other intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Not sure if your loved one qualifies? That's what the consultation is for. We'll review their medical history, talk through your concerns, and recommend the safest approach.
Less fear and distress.
Your loved one can stay relaxed, or sleep through treatment, without the panic or overwhelm that makes dental visits so hard.
More done in fewer visits.
When a patient is comfortable and still, we can complete more care at once.
Safer for the patient.
Staying calm and still helps protect against sudden movement during treatment.
Less stress for caregivers.
No more restraining a loved one, rescheduling after a failed attempt, or dreading the next appointment.
Better health long term.
Treating pain and infection early supports eating, sleeping, mood, and overall well-being.

"The doctors, anesthesiologists and staff were all amazing! We had been searching for this kind of care for a very long time. They took the time to explain everything to us for the treatment of our special-needs adult son. When the day of surgery came, we felt confident that the procedure would go as expected - and it did! What a blessing to find such caring and talented experts who helped resolve a serious dental issue!"

"The treatment team that took care of my son’s oral procedure(s),which required general anesthesia, was A+ and more. My son is on the Autism Spectrum and Moderate ID. They were patient with him and attentive to his special needs. Took time to include me in the treatment planning, carefully explaining everything along the way. Highly recommend!!!"

"I cannot say enough great things about this dental practice. From our very first phone call, everyone was so kind and answered all my questions. I have a special needs son that needed a lot of dental work and needed to be put under sedation. The dentist was very patient and understood the unique needs and concerns we had for our son. The anesthesiologist was wonderful and took great care of him. They are truly wonderful and you can tell they really care about their patients!"
